Texas Longhorns in jeopardy of losing a four-star commit to a SEC foe after Saturday visit
Scott Wachter-USA TODAY Sports

On Monday, Rivals' recruiting analysts Chad Simmons and Steve Wiltfong both entered flip predictions for Texas commit Corey Wells . The four-star Petal (Miss.) defensive lineman recently tripped to Auburn and head coach Hugh Freeze and his staff are pushing hard.

Wells committed to the Longhorns back in June over several high-profile Power 4 offers. And Auburn isn't the only program coming after the 6-foot-5, 330 pound prospect. Ole Miss is also pushing hard to get Wells back on campus for a game this fall.

Wells, who attended the Auburn game with his brother Chris Wells, has a close relationship with Tigers' defensive line coach Vontrell King-Williams.

Corey Wells met with 247Sports after the Auburn game Saturday.

"It went amazing. I ain't going to lie," Wells said. "This was my first Auburn game. A night game, it was amazing. The fourth quarter was very exciting, that was something different. Just everything, it was hype. It was real lit and good. I liked it, I really loved it.

"I talked to the coaches, spent time with them. Beat them in a couple of games on the Playstation. Talked other stuff instead football, talked football, just spent good time with them. A lot of time with all the coaches. Coach Vontrell is a cool, honest dude. I like Vontrell. He's always going to keep it 100 with me and he's always going to keep 100."

247Sports national recruiting analyst Cooper Petagna likes Corey Wells' potential on the interior.

"3-4 defensive lineman primarily positioned as a nose tackle that wins with brute force and above average play strength at the point of attack. Hovering around 6-foot-5 and 300-pounds, the Mississippi native utilizes his size, length and power exceptionally well, outleveraging opposing offensive linemen consistently off the line of scrimmage. Still somewhat raw in his movement skills, Wells will more than likely need a year or two to develop from a technical standpoint to maximize his potential as a staunch run defender that can continously take on and defeat double teams. A better athlete than given credit for off the hoof, the Petal High School standout projects as a high level impact starter at the Power Four level that will more than likely need a year or two of coaching before adding significant value at the collegiate level." - 247Sports national recruiting analyst, Cooper Petagna
