Alabama football will be looking to get better in its annual spring game A-Day on Saturday in front of its fans inside Bryant-Denny Stadium.

The Crimson Tide is using spring football to build chemistry, find starters, establish depth, improve in critical errors and a laundry list of other things. With A-Day finally here, these are some focal points to pay attention to:

The Quarterback Battle

Austin Mack and Keelon Russell are continuing to battle for the Crimson Tide’s starting quarterback role, and each signal caller will have an opportunity to build some momentum on Saturday. Kalen DeBoer has said each quarterback has been sharp for most of this spring. Mack is the experienced signal-caller looking to finally play in a system he has been in for three years. Russell is the former five-star phenom looking to prove why many were right about him. Saturday should give Tide fans a raw look at where the competition stands.

Offensive Line Rotation

Alabama football has a rebuilt offensive line after losing six offensive linemen with starting experience to the NFL and transfer portal. The Tide looks to have a framework for its starting offensive line with Racin Delgatty at center, Michael Carroll at right guard, Jayvin James at right tackle and Jackson Lloyd at left tackle. Left guard looks to be up for grabs. How this group rotates on Saturday and how many snaps each group gets together will be worth paying attention to.

Inside Linebacker Rotation

Alabama football lost all three of its primary contributors at inside linebacker at the end of the 2025 season with Deontae Lawson, Nikhai Hill-Green and Justin Jefferson departing from the program. The Tide is now looking to some new faces to contribute at inside linebacker. Caleb Woodson, Luke Metz, QB Reese, Duke Johnson and Abduall Sanders have been competing to get on the field at the position this spring. Who plays with Alabama’s first group and how they rotate in will be worth paying attention to on Saturday.

Run Game

The Tide’s rushing attack was lackluster at best down the stretch of the 2025 season, and it hurt the Crimson Tide. No threat of a rushing attack made Alabama’s offense one-dimensional in critical moments. Daniel Hill, Kevin Riley return to the Tide’s backfield. EJ Crowell, Trae’shawn Brown and Khalifa Keith joined this group. Will this group show signs of improvement on Saturday?

Transfers Impact

Multiple transfers are expected to step up at key positions for Alabama. Devan Thompkins at defensive end, Caleb Woodson at inside linebacker, Kedrick Bingley-Jones at defensive tackle, Terrance Green at nose tackle, Jayvin James at tackle, Desmond Umeozulu at outside linebacker, Carmelo O’Neal at defensive back, Noah Rogers at wide receiver and Josh Ford at tight end are all players to watch on A-Day.

Freshmen

A-Day is always a day for Tide fans to put eyes on freshmen.
