The No. 5 Miami Hurricanes have gotten off to a 2-0 start with wins over Notre Dame and Bethune-Cookman to start off the new chapter with quarterback Carson Beck.

Miami began the year with a 27-24 win over Notre Dame at home, and then had no issues with a 45-3 blowout win over Bethune-Cookman in Week 2.

Miami now gears up for a suddenly tough clash against No. 18 South Florida, which just stunned Billy Napier's Florida team in Week 2 and jumped into the top 25 rankings. While the inter-state battle has plenty of storylines, the Hurricanes got some surprising news.

On Monday, Miami suffered a shocking blow in the transfer portal after just two weeks of the season.

Miami safety Markeith Williams entered the transfer portal, per Chris Hummer and Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports.

Williams was a four-star recruit, per 247Sports, who initially committed to Miami in August 2021.

The Orlando native totaled 31 tackles in three seasons with Miami entering this season, but the junior surprisingly entered the portal after just two weeks.

According to Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald, Williams was dismissed from the team recently, although the reasons are unknown.

Williams played 192 snaps on defense and 154 snaps on special teams during his time with the program, but he did not see a single snap against Notre Dame and was absent from the Week 2 game against Bethune-Cookman.

Williams initially had offers from Ohio State, Alabama, Oklahoma and Georgia, among others, before coming to Miami.
