The college football transfer portal window opens on Monday and will be open for 30 days through January 2nd. As will be the case for most Power Five football programs, Virginia is expected to have some significant transfer portal activity, both in terms of departures and acquisitions.
Two UVA football players have already officially entered the transfer portal as graduate transfers. Junior offensive guard Jestus Johnson III entered the portal earlier this week and senior wide receiver Demick Starling officially entered the portal earlier in November, an unsurprising outcome after Tony Elliott reported back on September 19th that Starling would be redshirting the rest of the season and was not expected to return to the team next year.
On Monday, at least three more Cavaliers are expected to enter the transfer portal. Junior running back Cody Brown, freshman safety Devin Clark, and junior running back Amaad Foston have each announced their intentions to enter the transfer portal. Brown a former Miami transfer, and Foston have both struggled to see the field as they've dealt with injury troubles in their time at Virginia. Clark, meanwhile, is a tough loss for the Cavaliers as he was UVA's second highest-ranked recruit in the class of 2023.
On the receiving end of the portal, Virginia's roster priorities are at tight end, offensive and defensive line, wide receiver, and the secondary. Per a report from Wahoos247, UVA extended an offer to Harvard graduate transfer tight end Tyler Neville. A Virginia native and two-time First-Team All-Ivy League selection, Neville reportedly visited Virginia earlier this week.
