Travis Hunter’s Message To Deion Sanders After Winning The Heisman Trophy

"I want to thank Coach Prime, Shedeur," Hunter said. "Man, y'all changed my life forever. That one simple phone call, Shedeur. Look where I'm at. Man, that's crazy, bro. It's crazy. I'm trying not to get emotional because I know our last game is coming up soon. Coach Prime, I'm gonna whoop you on that lake tomorrow or whenever we get the chance. But thank you, man, you changed my life forever."

Hunter was the No. 2 overall prospect and the top athlete from the 2022 class, per the On3 Industry Rankings. His final three schools were between Jackson State, Florida State, and Georgia. Hunter picked Jackson State, and the rest was history. 

Hunter played in three games as a freshman at Jackson State but still followed Sanders to Colorado, transferring to the Buffaloes during the 2023 offseason. 

In 2023, Hunter was second on Colorado in receiving yards with 721. On defense, Hunter had 30 total tackles, three interceptions and two tackles for loss. 

This season, Hunter led Colorado with 1,152 receiving yards and led the Big 12 with 14 receiving touchdowns. Defensively, he has 32 total tackles, four interceptions, and one forced fumble. 

After taking home the Biletnikoff, Bednarik and Heisman, Hunter's last game of the season will be against BYU in the Alamo Bowl on Dec. 28. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
