One of the most prestigious and highly discussed awards in college football is the Heisman Trophy, presented annually to the best overall player of the season, regardless of position.

Since 2000, however, quarterbacks have dominated the award, with 19 of the last 23 winners coming from that position. The Heisman has increasingly become synonymous with exceptional quarterback play. But this season, the race seems to be shifting, according to the latest Heisman Trophy odds updated after Week 13.

Ahead of Week 14, FanDuel Sportsbook revealed its updated Heisman odds, and the clear favorite—sitting at an eye-opening -800—is none other than Colorado Buffaloes standout Travis Hunter. The versatile Hunter, who excels as both a wide receiver and cornerback, has emerged as the frontrunner in a season full of surprises.

Trailing behind Hunter is Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty, who sits at +650, and with just one week remaining in the regular season, the top two Heisman front runners are non-quarterbacks, signaling a rare shift in the award’s trend over the past two decades.

The closest quarterbacks according to the oddsmakers are Miami's Cam Ward, who has had a breakout season for the Hurricanes, and Dillon Gabriel, who is leading the No. 1-ranked Oregon Ducks, the only unbeaten team remaining in college football.

However, what Travis Hunter has done on both sides of the ball has been remarkable. Not only is he one of the top wide receivers in college football, but he’s also been one of the best cornerbacks in the sport, playing over 90% of Colorado’s snaps week in and week out.

Colorado’s playoff hopes were dealt a blow with their loss to Kansas in Week 13, but they remain the No. 25 ranked team in the country. It’s been a remarkable season for the program, especially considering where they were just two seasons ago before Deion Sanders took over, bringing Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter with him.

Now, Hunter and Sanders are expected to be top picks in the 2025 NFL Draft, and Hunter is on track to potentially win the Heisman Trophy.
