The 2023 USC Trojans were far from what we all expected them to be. It was a disappointing season throughout; however, there were a few shining spots, including USC lead running back MarShawn Lloyd.
Lloyd brought a great element to the run game, similar to what Travis Dye brought in 2022. Unfortunately, Lloyd was unable to showcase it in the playoffs or the New Year's Eve Six Bowl, but now we'll likely see him showcase it in the NFL.
Lloyd declared for the NFL this past weekend via Twitter/X. He says it's a dream come true, and we wish him the best in his next journey.
However, does that change things regarding USC's upcoming bowl game? After their tough regular season loss to UCLA, Lloyd said he was planning to play in the bowl game, but now that he's heading to the next level, does that change?
For the record, Lloyd did say during UCLA week he planned to play in a bowl game for #USC. https://t.co/kZ0054Thkj

In all likelihood, he will no longer be available as head coach Lincoln Riley didn't mention Lloyd's name when discussing the running backs that will be available.
USC running backs Austin Jones, Quinten Joyner and A'Marion Peterson will be available for the Holiday Bowl, head coach Lincoln Riley says.

Veteran RB MarShawn Lloyd declared for the NFL on Sunday.
It would be nice for Lloyd to play, but with nothing real at stake, what's the point?
Lloyd was excellent in his first and only season at USC. In 11 games, Lloyd rushed for 820 yards on 116 carries, nine rushing touchdowns, and had 13 receptions for 232 yards.
He brought a new dynamic to the offense outside of Caleb Williams, and although it wasn't the result they wanted, it was great to have Lloyd on our side.
It seems like we saw the last of Lloyd in the college game, and we thank him for his services in Southern California.
