Vanderbilt at Auburn odds: Opening point spread revealed

Week 4 of the college football season brings a full slate of SEC matchups. One of Saturday’s best will take place on the Plains, as the Auburn Tigers play host to the Vanderbilt Commodores. It’s a second straight conference game at home for Alex Golesh, as Clark Lea leads his team into their SEC opener.

Ahead of the Week 4 matchup, the early point spread and more have been revealed as of Tuesday morning. (All odds are courtesy of Polymarket) Auburn has opened as a 9.5-point favorite over Vanderbilt. Traders say the Tigers currently have a 76% chance of winning the game.

Moods around these two programs could not be any different. Let’s begin on a positive note, as Vanderbilt stole one from NC State on Saturday. The Commodores were pretty much dead in the water, being one play away from a loss. However, NC State quarterback CJ Bailey could not run out the clock on a fourth down and instead fumbled in the end zone. Vanderbilt recovered, scoring the game-winning touchdown.

It was the starting debut of former five-star quarterback Jared Curtis. Results were mixed, as Curtis threw for 277 yards and three touchdowns but also threw two interceptions. One of the INTs was thought to be a backbreaker at the time, coming deep in the red zone as Vanderbilt was driving down three late in the fourth quarter. But overall, a positive game.

Not much of the same can be said about Auburn. Florida was their Week 3 matchup, one between two first-year head coaches. The Auburn defense gave up 44 points and nearly 500 total yards. Not the start Golesh wanted in front of the home crowd.

Thankfully, there is an immediate opportunity to get back on the right track. This will be Auburn’s last home game until Oct. 24, spending the next two on the road and having a bye week. An important one for both schools.
