The NFL Scouting Combine is wrapping up on Sunday, and before the weekend was over in Indianapolis, a former Big 12 star nearly broke a combine record. Arizona State wide receiver Jordyn Tyson put up 26 reps on the 225-pound bench press, which is the second-most ever for a wide receiver. The most reps came from DK Metcalf, who put up 27 reps at the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine. Also of note, former Sooners wide receiver Deion Burks notched 26 reps on the bench press this week.

Here’s the video of Jordyn Tyson this weekend.

Jordyn Tyson NFL Draft Profile

Tyson’s ability is not up for debate, but what may be is his ability to stay healthy. He unfortunately suffered a horrible knee injury tearing his ACL, MCL and PCL during his freshman season at Colorado. He missed most of 2023 from the knee injury after transferring to ASU, and then was out for much of the 2025 season with the Sun Devils. But he is projected to be one of the top wide receivers off the board, if not the No. 1 receiver picked in the NFL Draft this spring.

According to scouting profiles, Tyson displays smooth route running and acceleration. His breaks at the top of routes are crisp and flat. He doesn’t posses top of the food chain straight line speed but his moves at the top of routes create significant separation along with his explosive acceleration.

The latest Mel Kiper Mock Draft has Tyson going at No. 14 to the Baltimore Ravens. The NFL.com Mock Draft from last week has Tyson joining the New York Jets at No. 16.

No doubt Tyson’s combine strength helped him as we get closer to the draft, which takes place in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania from April 23-25.
