Watch: Temple's Maddux Trujillo makes 64-yard field goal

Kickers are better than they have ever been at every level of football. That has been obvious at the NFL level for about a decade now, and we are even starting to see it in the college ranks where kickers have been notoriously unreliable. We had another reminder of that on Saturday afternoon when Temple kicker Maddux Trujillo nailed a 64-yard field goal at the end of the half against Utah State.

That is an incredible kick. Not only for the distance but also because it was not perfect weather conditions in Philadelphia on Saturday.

Even more noteworthy is that kick set a new record for the longest field goal ever kicked at Lincoln Financial Field. That record previously belonged to Philadelphia Eagles kicker Jake Elliott, who had previously kicked a 61-yard field goal.

That field goal brought Temple to within one point going into the half.

The Owls eventually took the lead coming out after halftime.
