The Longhorns have landed a commitment from four-star offensive lineman Nick Brooks.
The 6-foot-7, 345-pound prospect committed to Texas over USC and Georgia.
Brooks is one of the largest offensive line prospects in the class of 2025. While he may be a heavy prospect, he fills out his frame well and has good stamina for a blocker. He has a sturdy base and rarely loses his balance.
Strength is a key factor in Brooks’ game. He has massive arms that hold tremendous power within them. One forceful shove and the defender will go flying a few yards away. This will be very beneficial to Brooks as SEC linemen pack a punch.
In pass protection, Brooks is stellar. He is able to kick step with ease and is very nimble on his feet. Brooks does have trouble against twitchier defenders, but that is something offensive line coach Kyle Flood will help him improve. He has an incredibly large wingspan that helps keep these powerful rushers at bay.
You do not want to be lined up against Brooks on a running play. He explodes from his hips and drives defenders back with ease. He is profound at pancake blocks and will always neutralize his rusher in run protection.
Brooks is very technically sound as an offensive lineman. He is elite with hand placement, always driving through defenders’ chests. I see flashes of Kelvin Banks in his game and with Kyle Flood coaching him up, I think Brooks could match up to Banks’ production on the forty acres.
The Cedar Rapids native is a huge pickup for the Longhorns.
