Alabama football’s new starting quarterback Ty Simpson is going to get to show off his full arsenal during the 2025 season after sitting and waiting for his opportunity.
Simpson is a former five-star quarterback, who was known for his ability to create exciting plays from in and outside of the pocket as a high school prospect. This part of his game is still intact, per the Crimson Tide’s running back, Jam Miller.
“Ty hasn’t really played in many games, but once people see him on the field, they’ll be very surprised,” Miller said. “The way he moves, steps out of the pocket and just make incredible throws, It’s gonna be real shocking to the fans.”
Alabama’s offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb shone a glimmer of light on this while discussing what led Simpson to win the Crimson Tide’s quarterback competition on Tuesday.
“I think Ty is an incredible playmaker on the move, and I think from there, guys like that, you worry are they going to be able to train themselves to be able to take care of the football and even the room in general,” Grubb said. “His ability to command and create the pocket, I thought, was the best. Made great decisions. He is just much cleaner on some of the things you expect an older quarterback to do.”
Alabama fans are hopeful Simpson can bring the same excitement he brought to Westview High School to Bryant-Denny Stadium in games in the fall.
