Hunter Wohler, a native of Muskego, Wisconsin, and a standout safety for the Badgers' took to social media to reflect on his time with the program as his college eligibility has now come to an end.
Wohler expressed gratitude for the journey and reflected on the relationships and memories he’s built over the last four years playing under Paul Chryst, Jim Leonhard, and Luke Fickell.
"Dear Madison, thank you for these last four years. It's had its ups and downs, but I wouldn't trade it for anything," Wohler wrote in an Instagram post. "The friends met and the memories made will last a lifetime. Thank you, God, for blessing me with more than I could ask for. But now it's on to the next chapter. Until next time ."
A four-star recruit in the 2021 recruiting class, Wohler held offers from Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Stanford, and several other notable programs but ultimately chose to stay home and play for the Badgers.
During his career at Wisconsin, Wohler appeared in 43 games and recorded 229 total tackles (150 solo), had 74 stops, 16 pass deflections, 13 pressures, 11.5 TFLs, three interceptions, and two sacks. In 2023, he earned First Team All-Big Ten honors from the Associated Press.
Wohler, a team captain in 2024, was the epitome of a "program guy"—an in-state player who represented the Wisconsin Badgers' core values and stuck things out through the hard times to don the Cardinal and White.
In his senior season, Wohler had 71 tackles, six pass breakups, and a tackle for loss playing under safeties coach Alex Grinch. His versatility and football IQ made him one of the most dependable players on the roster, and his leadership set the tone for a team navigating through a challenging season.
Wohler’s departure marks the end of an era for the Badgers. From being a blue-chip recruit out of Muskego High School to becoming a captain and key leader for the program, Wohler’s contributions to Wisconsin football will be remembered by fans long after his final game.
As he moves on to the next chapter, Wohler leaves a legacy of relentless effort and dedication to his home-state program—a standard for future players to aspire to. His farewell is a reminder of the cyclical nature of college football, as fans now look forward to seeing how Wohler’s journey continues in the NFL.
Thank you, Hunter Wohler, for giving everything to the Badgers and representing Wisconsin football the right way.
