Just when you think that Wisconsin couldn’t depress its fanbase any further, they surprise you with an even more embarrassing performance. The Badgers lost to rival Iowa 37-0 at home on Saturday night, which followed a 42-10 loss to the Hawkeyes last season. Under the leadership of head coach Luke Fickell, Wisconsin found a way to get outscored 79-10 the last two seasons by Iowa.

This isn’t meant to be a shot against Iowa, but as everyone knows, the Hawkeyes aren’t known for their offensive prowess. Yet, in these two games, Iowa outscored Wisconsin by 69 points while accumulating 741 yards of offense compared to the Badgers 470 yards.

The question now becomes, how much more of this will the Wisconsin administration take? The current situation is lost. There is no reason to sugarcoat it. Fickell isn’t going to turn this season around, and any Wisconsin fan who still believes that he might is delusional.

The much-publicized elephant in the room is Fickell’s buyout, which sits at $25M. But as this downward spiral continues, a fan sponsored GoFundMe page would likely be able to collect that in a week.

And to make it worse, nothing will get better in the coming weeks. The Badgers are currently 2-4 and without a win against a P4 team. And they haven’t been competitive in any of the four losses. Still remaining on the schedule, the Badgers have No. 1 Ohio State, No. 3 Oregon, No. 7 Indiana and No. 17 Illinois. Plus, there is a very good chance that Washington will be ranked when the two meet in early November.

The reality of the situation is that it is very likely that Wisconsin will continue to hit new lows in the coming weeks. There is no reason to believe that they won’t, because they haven’t shown any signs of proving otherwise.

The fanbase is tired, frustrated and angry. Soon enough, everyone will find out if the Badgers’ administration feels the same way.
