2. Sandeep Sharma

Sandeep Sharma surprisingly did not get bought in the IPL 2023 auction even though he was an experienced and accomplished cricket player. Nevertheless, he was brought in by the Rajasthan Royals as a replacement, and very soon the player proved his worth again.

4. Chris Gayle

There are many players who have not been purchased at any IPL auction. Among them, the most surprising was Chris Gayle in the 2011 IPL auction. But after being bought by Royal Challengers Bengaluru as a replacement player, everything changed for Gayle. During his first participation in the tournament, he made 608 runs, which later turned into an astonishing 733 in IPL 2012.

5. Imran Tahir

Imran Tahir failed to fetch a price in the 2017 IPL auction even when he was regarded as one of the best T20 bowlers in the world. However, he turned out to be a brilliant replacement for Rising Pune Supergiant, taking 18 wickets on debut and winning a place in the squad. Tahir impressed with his consistency and ability to take wickets, signing up for Chennai Super Kings, who gave him the Purple Cap in 2019.
