Once again Virat Kohli showed his intensity on the field during the 2026 IPL as his animated celebration to dismiss Shubman Gill has grabbed the attention of the viewers. The dismissal happened in the IPL 2026 encounter between RCB and Gujarat Titans where Kohli played a key role in the breakthrough.

Kohli made his mark with the bat in quick time as he smashed a quickfire 28 from 13 balls, but it was his performance on the field that earned him plaudits. Shubman Gill was smashing boundaries all around the park as he looked well-set on a target of 156 after smashing a 43-ball 18 with the help of four boundaries and three sixes. Gill hit a lofted shot right in the hands of Kohli at the cover.

The former RCB captain took a screamer to complete the catch and roared with immense intensity in celebration, giving a fierce look at the batter. The visual was one of the most viral content pieces from the encounter.

Sehwag's View on Kohli's Intent

Former India opener Virender Sehwag reacted on the dismissal and appreciated the passion shown by Kohli on the field. Speaking on the same on Cricbuzz, Sehwag stated that Shubman Gill's approach only helped in pushing Kohli's limits.

On Cricbuzz, Sehwag said:

"The more boundaries Shubman Gill was hitting, the more charged up Virat Kohli was getting on the ground. It was really fun to watch, seeing that even at this age, Virat Kohli is still showing so much energy."

The former batter was echoed by most of the fans.

Gill’s Blazing Knock Sets The Stage

Gill was at his aggressive best, which had put RCB under the pump earlier. He hit a six over point off Bhuvneshwar and then confidently attacked Hazlewood as well. One over from him went for two fours and two sixes; he was absolutely dominant over the bowlers.

Sehwag lauded Gill for his performance and admitted he felt Gill was going to finish the game.

Sehwag stated:

"Shubman Gill is a class player. The batting was a joy to watch. He was 43 off 18 balls at one stage, it did look like the game was done in the powerplay with how aggressive and powerful his batting was. But yes, he was a little unlucky to have that caught so easily by Virat Kohli, because if it had landed anywhere on the other side it would have been a boundary."

But then Kohli’s catch was always going to turn the tables for RCB and this particular incident added another chapter of their on-field battle to the illustrious history books.
