There is a big relief coming for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) manager, Romi Bhinder, who has been cleared by the BCCI Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ASCU) for the match-fixing allegations. He has just been handed a nominal fine for using his phone in the dugout during the IPL 2026 match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

Romi Bhinder, who has been associated with the franchise since the inception of the IPL tournament, was found breaching the rules when he was caught using his phone in the dugout, which also involved the young sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. While the BCCI had earlier given a showcase notice to Bhinder, he has now been cleared of all allegations.

As per the reports of Cricbuzz, Romi Bhinder was informed by the BCCI’s ASCU through a letter that he had been cleared of all his allegations and will just be facing a nominal fine for using a mobile phone in the team’s dugout during the course of the match. He has been given a fair warning as well, considering his previous 19-year-old track record in management with this franchise. The report further stated that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who was also caught having a look at Bhinder’s phone, has no major impact.

Following that incident, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia had launched a probe into this incident just to confirm if there was any wrongdoing happening or any protocol violated. Upon investigation, some sources claimed that Bhinder has been going through some major health issues, including Asthma. Both of his lungs had collapsed a month earlier, and he spent one month in the hospital.

As per the Indian Premier League (IPL) Players and Match Officials Area rules, team managers of the franchises are allowed to carry their phones but are strictly restricted from using them during the game.

As this was the very first breach from Romi Bhinder, he was just fined INR 1 Lakh and was also handed a warning that he should be careful of such incidents in the future.
