Indian captain Shubman Gill scored a hundred in the first innings of the second Test against the West Indies at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium. While his performance pleased everyone, one of his fans proposed to him during the match.
When Gill was going strong, the cameras panned towards the crowd and showed a female fan with a placard in her hands that read, “I love you Shubman.”
The fans erupted in cheers, and the moment went viral on social media. The incident added romance to the ongoing game and also highlighted the growing fanbase of Team India’s Test captain.
Gill surpassed Rohit Sharma and equalled MS Dhoni’s record for the most centuries as Test captain of the Indian National Cricket Team. The 26-year-old recorded his fifth century as a skipper.
Gill also equalled Virat Kohli’s record for the most tons by an Indian skipper in Test cricket in a calendar year, with his fifth three-digit mark in 2025. Kohli reached the milestone twice in 2017 and 2018. India declared their first innings at 518 for 5.
