Mumbai Indians bounced back in style, delivering a powerful all-around performance that led to a resounding 99-run victory over the Gujarat Titans in Match No. 30 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The match took place in front of an enthusiastic crowd at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Monday, April 20.
Batting first, MI set a formidable target of 199/5 in their 20 overs, thanks in large part to an incredible century from Tilak Varma. The left-handed batsman dazzled everyone with an unbeaten 101 off just 45 balls, hitting eight fours and seven sixes at an impressive strike rate of 224.44.
After facing some early challenges, Naman Dhir stepped up with a vital 45 runs off 32 balls, helping to stabilize the innings before Tilak took charge in the later overs. Captain Hardik Pandya chipped in with a useful 15, ensuring MI finished on a high note. For GT, Kagiso Rabada stood out with three wickets, while Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna each contributed with one wicket.
In response, the Titans had a nightmarish start, getting bowled out for a mere 100 runs in just 15.5 overs. Sai Sudharsan was out for a duck on the very first ball, setting a grim tone for the innings. Captain Shubman Gill managed to score 14, but it was Washington Sundar who top-scored with 26 off 17 balls. Unfortunately, wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals, making any comeback impossible.
Mumbai’s bowlers were sharp and effective throughout the match, with Ashwani Kumar shining the brightest by taking four key wickets. Mitchell Santner provided solid support with two wickets, while AM Ghazanfar also grabbed two, including the final wicket that sealed the game. Jasprit Bumrah made an early impact, striking first to disrupt GT’s chase.
