The Men in Blue boast the most formidable batting lineup in the world and have shattered many records in the shortest format. Thanks to their incredible batting talent, India have chased several massive totals in their T20I history. Here’s a look at India’s top three highest successful run-chases:
Fresh from the wounds of the ODI World Cup loss, India took on Australia in the first T20I of the five-match series. Josh Inglis (110 off 50) brought up his maiden T20I century as Australia posted a massive score of 208/3 in their 20 overs.
In reply, India captain Suryakumar Yadav led from the front with a marvellous knock of 80 (42), while Ishan Kishan (58 off 39) also scored a half-century. In the end, the calm head of Rinku Singh (22* off 14) took India over the line on the penultimate ball of the match, sealing a two-wicket victory for his team.
After being put in to bat first, New Zealand posted a good score of 208/6 with top contributions from captain Mitchell Santner (47* off 27) and Rachin Ravindra (44 off 26). In reply, India overhauled the target without breaking a sweat as Suryakumar Yadav tore the Kiwi bowling with a belligerent innings of 82* (37), while Ishan Kishan also played a fiery knock of 76 off 32. As a result, India reached the target in just 15.2 overs, the fastest 200-plus chase among full-member nations.
Glenn Phillips’ 82* (40), laced with eight fours and three sixes, guided New Zealand to their joint-highest total against India of 225/4. Finn Allen (45 off 24) and Bevon Jacobs (31* off 16) also made valuable contributions with the bat.
In reply, India were given an electrifying start by Sanju Samson (67 off 33). Later, Shreyas Iyer (42 off 28) and Naman Dhir (42* off 15) took their team over the line, completing India’s highest successful run chase and sealing a four-wicket win.
