Axar Patel, captain of Delhi Capitals, was forced to leave the match after facing cramps in the IPL 2026 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Delhi Capitals.

The management chose to send Axar to bat after the dismissal of KL Rahul, who played exceptionally. They opted for stability in the middle overs, and Axar did a remarkable job. He managed to score by rotating his strikes during the overs where wickets fell. The innings continued, but Axar started experiencing pain in his legs. He struggled while running between the wickets and also failed to run two when the chance arose. Axar eventually walked to the pavilion during the 17th over due to unbearable pain.

Axar was forced out of the game due to an injury and was assisted by RCB physio and Krunal Pandya, who were on the pitch at that time. It was a great display of sportsmanship by both sides since Axar was seen smiling as he left the pitch.

Miller steps up under pressure

In this case, David Miller had to gain control of the match once Axar was out of the game. This is because the left-hander should prove that he could play well after having made a mistake in the other match against Gujarat Titans that led to the defeat of his side.

Miller maintained composure and played a very mature game. Delhi Capitals required to bat at high strike rate at the end of the match. However, Miller showed his maturity and did not get scared under pressure. Miller made a very bold play against Romario Shepherd. Miller hit six over mid-wicket and later another six over extra cover. It seemed that those two were the most important shots in the whole game since they changed everything.

Miller finished the match on a very positive note by hitting a four which guaranteed that there wouldn't be any last minute changes to the result. Miller managed to make a great come back and make sure that his previous mistake doesn't repeat.

Delhi Capitals defeat RCB at their home ground

The game concluded with Delhi Capitals defeating Royal Challengers by six wickets at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The game was highly important for the Delhi side, as they were eager to boost their ranking in the points table.

Unfortunately, Royal Challengers had an awful outcome in their home match. They had a very successful record in their home matches as they won all home matches played until this one. This match was highly important to them due to the fact that it was their 100th home match.

The bowlers from RCB performed well in the death overs through their good yorker deliveries, however, Miller proved to be too strong for them with his ability to score runs.

For Delhi Capitals, this match brought them much closer to reaching the top four teams. The game was full of important events, though, the most noticeable ones were Miller's finishing and Axar's injury.
