The winless Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will be going against the Gujarat Titans (GT) in their 6th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Gujarat on Friday, 17th April. While the GT aim to continue their dominance and seal their third consecutive victory in the tournament, KKR aim to bounce back and win their first match in IPL 2026.
Gujarat Titans bounced back immediately after their season opener defeat against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) and won their next two games against the Delhi Capitals (DC) and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their next two games. They are currently sitting in the sixth spot with four points in their four matches so far. They registered a dominant 7-wicket victory over LSG in their previous game. GT restricted LSG to 164/8 in their 20 overs and chased the target comfortably in 18.4 overs. Prasidh Krishna was their hero in bowling, taking four wickets in his bowling spell. Jos Buttler and Shubman Gill scored their respective half-centuries. Shubman Gill has once again been in good touch, scoring 165 runs in three matches, while Buttler has 176 runs in four matches. Krishna has been sitting at the top of the highest-wicket takers in the tournament with 10 wickets to his name.
Meanwhile, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have failed to deliver the expected performance despite having a formidable squad for the IPL 2026. The injury has been the main concern. While some of their key players are still missing in the camp, their current players are not giving satisfactory results. They are winless in the tournament so far, losing four matches out of the five they have played. Their one game against the Punjab Kings was washed out that helped them to get one point. They lost their previous game by 32 runs. While chasing a mammoth target of 193 runs, KKR could only managed to reach 160 for 7 in their 20 overs. Angkrish Raghuvanshi has been their most consistent batter so far, scoring 182 runs in five innings at a strike rate of 156.

The Narendra Modi Stadium pitch provides a flat surface, helping all the explosive powers of the T20 batters to score big runs. The surface enables batters to play their shots because it delivers strong pace and bounce, while fast bowlers can expect some assistance from the new ball during the initial stages of the match. The last match at this venue also saw high scores from both teams. The average first-inning total at this venue is expected to be 175.
The weather is expected to remain humid and partly cloudy, with only 10% rain predicted during the game. As this is an evening game, the surroundings might feel the cold breeze around, but it will also assist the pace bowlers in the meantime. The temperatures are likely to hover around 26-32 °C.
