Delhi Capitals pulled off one of the finest chases in Indian Premier League history against Rajasthan Royals on May 1 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
After winning the toss, Rajasthan Royals opted to bat first but suffered an early setback, losing both openers cheaply. Dhruv Jurel and captain Riyan Parag then steadied the innings. Jurel contributed 42, while Donovan Ferreira provided a late surge with an unbeaten 47 off just 14 balls. For Delhi Capitals, Mitchell Starc impressed in his maiden IPL 2026 appearance, picking up 3/40.
In response, Delhi Capitals got off to a flying start with a 110-run opening partnership between Pathum Nissanka and KL Rahul. Nissanka scored 62 off 33 balls, including six fours and three sixes at a strike rate of 187.88, while Rahul anchored the chase with 75 off 40 balls, hitting six fours and five sixes at a strike rate of 187.50.
The finishing touches were applied by Ashutosh Sharma and Tristan Stubbs, who ensured Delhi Capitals completed a memorable chase. With this victory, Delhi Capitals moved up to sixth place with four wins from nine matches, while Rajasthan Royals remained fourth with six wins from ten games.
