Jamie Overton, the fast bowling all-rounder, has been added to England’s 15-member squad, announced by the England and Wales Cricket Board on Monday, for the fifth and final Test match of the ongoing series against India.

Overton will be the sixth frontline pacer in the side, which already comprises of Jofra Archer, Chris Woakes, Gus Atkinson, Josh Tongue and Brydon Carse. He has been drafted in the wake of skipper Ben Stokes’ admission that England needed fresh legs as the series approaches its business end. Stokes himself has looked ill at ease on the field a few times, Woakes has featured in all four Tests despite making a comeback from an ankle injury and Archer, returning to the Test fold after four years, has played the last two Tests.

Overton has played a solitary Test in his career so far, three years ago against New Zealand. The fifth Test is scheduled to begin at The Oval from July 31. England currently lead the series 2-1 after the fourth Test at Old Trafford ended in a draw, thanks to India’s defiant batsmanship.

Squad: Ben Stokes (Captain), Jofra Archer, Gus Atkinson, Jacob Bethell, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Zak Crawley, Liam Dawson, Ben Duckett, Jamie Overton, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Jamie Smith, Josh Tongue, Chris Woakes
