Virat Kohli once again claimed the spotlight in the 2026 IPL season by registering a unique milestone against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. The batter of Royal Challengers Bengaluru became the first player in the history to register 1,000 runs against Mumbai Indians.
Kohli achieved the landmark during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru encounter against Mumbai Indians when he was paired up against Phil Salt. He has thus taken another unique feather to his cap alongside his massive record list.
Kohli has amassed more than 8,800 runs so far in the Indian Premier League and is the all-time highest run scorer in the tournament. His consistency throughout the season has made him one of the best franchise cricketers on the circuit.
Before the modern-day master blaster, KL Rahul had registered the highest score against Mumbai Indians by amassing 977 runs whereas Virat Kohli smashed a half-century by crossing the 1,000-run mark in 36 innings.
He is now the leading run-scorer against Mumbai Indians. The former India cricketer Shikhar Dhawan remains on third with 901 runs, while Ajinkya Rahane and Suresh Raina are on fourth and fifth position with 888 runs and 850 runs respectively.
It shows that Virat Kohli has a great record against one of the most successful team in the Indian Premier League history throughout the years.
The other massive record that Kohli is getting closer to, is in the history books of IPL history, Kohli needs under 200 runs to break the record and become the first ever player to cross 9000 runs in IPL cricket. At the current rate, Kohli will cross 9000 IPL runs during the IPL 2026 and that will only add more fuel to his ever-growing tally of highest runs in the league.
The right-handed batter also stands tall amongst the top T20 run scorers globally with 13500 runs. Kohli is chasing Chris Gayle's overall T20 record and the Cricket fans all over the world will be buzzing for another milestone.
