The Chepauk witnessed the homeboy Sai Sudharsan winning the match for Gujarat Titans by 8 wickets, defeating Chennai Super Kings. However, Sai Su could not complete the chase for GT owing to a stunning catch of Dewald Brevis. By that time GT was just 5 runs away from the chase, which Jos Buttler finished in no time with a six straight down the ground off Akeal Hussain.

GT had to chase a very modest score of 158 runs, which they chased comfortably in the 17th over. With the win, Gujarat Titans moved to the 5th position in the IPL points table.

CSK Top Order Collapse Again

Chennai Super Kings endured a turbulent batting outing, finishing on 158/7 after early damage from Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj. The top order collapsed to 26/3 within 4.4 overs, with Sanju Samson falling to a sharp delivery from Rabada and Sarfaraz Khan dismissed for a golden duck attempting an ambitious pull. Rabada’s pace, consistently touching 148–149 kmph, rattled the batters early, while Siraj’s cross-seam variation proved equally effective.

Amid the chaos, Ruturaj Gaikwad stood firm, anchoring the innings with an unbeaten 74 off 60 balls. His knock, laced with six fours and four sixes, accounted for nearly 47% of the team’s total. However, the lack of support from the middle order hurt momentum, with Dewald Brevis struggling for timing and managing just 2 off 9 balls.

Shivam Dube (22 off 17) and Kartik Sharma (15 off 9) attempted brief recoveries, while Jamie Overton’s explosive 18 off 6 balls lifted the scoring rate late. Arshad Khan’s twin strikes and Rabada’s three-wicket haul ensured CSK never fully recovered from their early collapse.

Sudharsan leads dominant chase with calculated aggression

In response, Gujarat Titans displayed a controlled yet aggressive batting performance, driven by Sai Sudharsan’s commanding 87 off 46 deliveries. His innings, featuring seven sixes and four boundaries, came at a strike rate of 189.13 and formed the backbone of the chase. The opening partnership yielded 58 runs in just 6.2 overs before Shubman Gill was stumped for 33.

Sudharsan continued to dominate through the middle overs, reaching his half-century in 33 balls and maintaining pressure on the bowlers. Jos Buttler complemented him effectively with an unbeaten 39 off 30 balls, ensuring stability after Gill’s dismissal. The duo added 97 runs for the second wicket, taking the game deep into the final phase.

Despite a stunning diving catch from Brevis to dismiss Sudharsan at 155/2, the result was a mere formality by then. The Titans reached 150 inside 16 overs, highlighting their dominance. CSK’s bowlers struggled for control, with Akeal Hosein conceding 46 runs in 3.4 overs, while only Noor Ahmad managed to pick a wicket among the frontline options.
