Yashasvi Jaiswal achieved a unique milestone during the IPL 2026 clash between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals in Jaipur on Thursday. The young opener hit a six on the very first ball he faced and registered one more milestone in his Indian Premier League career.
Coming into bat, Jaiswal was up against Mitchell Starc. It was short and on his body and the southpaw assessed the length immediately and smashed a six over backward square leg.
Jaiswal registered another rare record by topping the list of batsmen to hit most sixes on the first ball of an IPL innings. The southpaw achieved the feat for the fourth time in his career, which is the highest among all players in the history of the tournament.
Most times hitting a six on the first ball of an IPL innings:
This record also stands a testament to Jaiswal's attacking mindset.
This excitement however was short-lived for Rajasthan Royals. Starc got his revenge in the same over as Jaiswal mis-timed the full toss he was bowled and hit it straight back to Starc who collected a simple catch.
It was the first wicket in the tournament for Starc and an all-important break for Delhi Capitals after a disappointing beginning. The woes for Rajasthan Royals were increased as the young Vaibhav Sooryavanshi followed Jaiswal and was dismissed for 4 in the very next over and again there was early pressure for the Royals despite the thumping start.
Earlier in the game, Riyan Parag had elected to bat first. The Australian speedster, Starc who had been recovering from a shoulder injury, returned in this match and this very first over proves his importance in the Delhi Capitals side.
The exchange between Jaiswal and Starc described summed up the T20 game as brilliance followed by a sudden change in the same over.
