Plagued by injury problems and dartitis, Nathan Aspinall had a particularly difficult 2024. This year, however, the 33-year-old Englishman is back in full force, as evidenced by his two titles on the European Tour. Also in the Premier League Darts "The Asp" did far from unkind, as he eventually stranded in the semifinals after a 10-7 defeat to the later winner Luke Humphries.
Aspinall has already won two majors in his career (UK Open 2019 and World Matchplay 2023). However, due to the fact that he suffered from injuries and dartitis for a long time, questions were raised about his future.
An emotional Aspinall revealed earlier this year that the doubts had hurt him and his family. He also expressed great pride in being back among the top of the darts world.

Currently, Aspinall is seventh in the PDC Order of Merit. "I'm in the camp that I don't think we've seen the best of Aspinall yet. I don't think we've seen him at his very best," said Chris Mason to Online Darts.
He spoke about the Premier League Darts and that he showed his metal on the big stage and could've sprung the big shock in reality given that everything seemed to fall into place for him on that one night.
"I think that particular semi-final even though he lost it was an example of what he has in the locker. When everything is right and he preps right and everything falls into place, he was a couple of darts away from the final and potentially winning it."
In just under two weeks, the World Matchplay will start at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool. Aspinall has a particularly large amount of prize money to defend for the world rankings there after his final victory in 2023, but given his current form, it thus certainly does not seem impossible for him to succeed himself as winner once more.
