Last weekend, tournaments seven and eight of the PDC Nordic & Baltic Tour were completed. In addition, the qualifying tournaments for tournaments seven, eight and nine of the European Tour were also played. One of the players who impressed was Swede Johan Engström with several high averages.
Engström won the qualifying tournament for the ninth round of the European Tour, specifically the Baltic Sea Darts Open, which takes place July 11-13 in Kiel, Germany. Engström defeated Icelander Matthias Örn Fridriksson 6-5 in the final. However, it was in the quarterfinals that he achieved the highest average of any player this weekend. Engström defeated compatriot Pär Rihonen 5-0 in the quarterfinals, posting an average of 104.86.
With 101.63 in his 6-4 lost semifinal against Finn Teemu Harju in the seventh tournament of the PDC Nordic & Baltic Tour, he also set the second highest average of last weekend.
And even the entire top three is for Engström. Because in that same tournament he was at the last sixteen defeating the Icelander Alexander Thorvaldsson 6-5. In that match he achieved an average of 98.17.
In the standings of the PDC Nordic & Baltic Tour, Engström is currently in seventh place. The standings are currently led by Andreas Harrysson, who is just over 1,000 pounds ahead of number two, Oskar Lukasiak. The top two after 12 tournaments qualify for the upcoming Darts World Cup.
