'Might take a picture with this microphone': Stephen Bunting jokes on no bed selfie due to lack of ProTour trophy

After winning in Copenhagen, Stephen Bunting extended his title success by winning Players Championship 18. One of only a few top names in Leicester, 'The Bullet' proved he was a cut above as he took down Jermaine Wattimena.

Bunting delighted with a mid match burst during his win over the Dutchman where he was borderline unplayable and he said afterwards that he will likely look back in the goodness of time and see how good his display was and marvel at it himself.

"I feel like I've played really well the last two days to be honest obviously coming in with a lot of confidence coming in from winning in Copenhagen. I've had a nice little family holiday in my caravan in North Wales so full of confidence, playing some really good stuff. Think I've only had two averages under the 100 over the two days," said Bunting.

"I've had some really tough games, it's a bit vague now at the moment. I'll look back on today and it'll be something I can be really proud of."

"I think resilience (key to new found success). When you're losing finals, you've got to learn from it and there were six finals last year that I had a really good chance to learn from. I've gone into this year with a free hit, had the Premier League really enjoyed it. I've won on the Euro Tour, played really well on the World Series. I'm going to enjoy this win and celebrate tonight."

Slight jitters at times towards the end, he spoke on the importance of keeping up the pressure when ahead. "When you get the chance to put your foot on someone's head you've got to keep it there. There was a moment in the match where he missed a few darts at doubles and I come back and I was sort of doubting myself halfway through the game."

In terms of what it would then take to win a major, it is very much about keeping up what he is doing and seeing what h can then do from there.

"I've just got to keep my feet on the ground, keep doing what I'm doing. I'm really happy with my form at the minute. There's not much time to practice as we're always away and living out of a suitcase. People don't see that side. I'm enjoying being away and playing. When I do get the odd moment, it's nice to get home and celebrate with the family."

He also jested about the lack of trophy leading to no in bed selfie after his title success, a Bunting tradition and that he might have a different tact related to the interview. "Might take a picture with his microphone instead."
