PDC Pro Tour Order of Merit Update: Ross Smith reaches top three as Jonny Clayton rises amid Rosmalen success

Ross Smith is the new number three on the PDC ProTour Order of Merit while Jonny Clayton and Wessel Nijman also rose as a result of runs at the Dutch Darts Championship.

The ranking is still led by Dave Chisnall with 172,000 pounds, while Martin Schindler is number two with 169,500 pounds. Smith with 158,500 pounds already made it to at least the quarterfinals of a Pro Tour tournament nine times this season, culminating in the overall victory at Players Championship 16.

The Dutch Darts Championship was won by Jonny Clayton, who is now in seventh place with £134,000. This puts him right ahead of Luke Littler (eighth), Michael van Gerwen (ninth) and Luke Humphries (10th).

Wessel Nijman after his run secured a spot in the top-16 of the PDC Pro Tour Order of Merit for the first time after reaching the semifinals at the Dutch Darts Championship.

His result in Rosmalen allowed Nijman to add 8,500 pounds to the ranking, which now puts him in the fifteenth spot on the Pro Tour ranking. Over the past twelve months, Nijman earned as much as 114,500 pounds on the Euro Tours and Players Championship tournaments. Niko Springer for instance who lost in the final is only World No.60 but he is only in his first season.

Through the Pro Tour, players can qualify for the televised tournaments. At tournaments such as the World Matchplay and the World Grand Prix, in addition to the top-16 of the world rankings, the sixteen best players of the Pro Tour ranking are also invited. The same goes for Euro Tour tournaments, while the top-32 at Players Championship tournaments have protected status in the draw.
