'Whoever wins the worlds doesn't have to win a leg of darts then for two years'- Glen Durrant on the ranking system
Press Association

Glen Durrant spoke to Online Darts about the ranking systems and how you only need one big win to be at the top of the ranking system for 2 years. He also speaks about how it is affecting the players that aren't at the top of the game and how they will struggle to every get there.

Durrant is part of the PDPA who received criticism due to the interview with Peter Manley which saw him shut down talk of first round losers prize money which fans and players thought was tantamount to Manley saying they didn't care despite taking a membership fee.

Florian Hempel also further criticised them in German last week wondering what they do. But Durrant in this case is advocating for more change for the players in regards to money.

"I read a stat where it said, whoever wins the worlds doesn't have to win a leg of darts then for two years and will still be seated number three two years later. That's not right. So that needs to be addressed". The way darts is going, some players are worried that the big players will drift knowing that they will be in the top 3 after winning the biggest tournament," he said to Online Darts.

Durrant added, "As part of the PDPA, I would like us to put together a ranking system and say to the PDC, what do you think of that, it could be a points system instead of money. The big players can still get their money for winning but it doesn't affect the rankings massively.". Durrant isn't the first person to bring this up and won't be the last, but will we see a change?
