2025 Emmy Award Nominations Announced: ‘Severance,’ ‘The Penguin,’ ‘The White Lotus’ Lead Pack

Severance debuted on Apple+ in February 2022. Created by Dan Erickson, with many episodes directed by Ben Stiller, this show has received favorable reviews and a very high Rotten Tomatoes score. The series has been frequently praised for both its cinematography and musical score.

Emmy Awards 2025 noms for Severance were the “big five.” They’re for best drama series, lead actress in a drama series, lead actor in a drama series, best supporting actor in a drama series, and best supporting actress in a drama series. Other rewards included production design, casting, and cinematography.

Another Apple+ series, comedy The Studio, had 23 nominations, tying season three of FX’s The Bear. The Seth Rogen-led series has been a favorite among fans, especially those of Curb Your Enthusiasm. It’s about a struggling movie studio trying to stay busy, meet demands, and be relevant in an increasingly challenging time.

HBO Max’s Nominations for the Emmy Awards 2025

HBO Max scored an impressive 142 noms, with the limited series The Penguin getting nods for best limited series, best actress, Cristin Milioti, and best actor, Colin Farrell. Additionally, The White Lotus has multiple nominations, including a nomination for best drama series, plus the show absolutely dominated the supporting actor and actress categories. Three nominations for each category were from The White Lotus!

Other Honorable Mentions for the 2025 Emmys

Beloved star Kathy Bates has made history as the oldest actress nominated for her lead role in Matlock. Prolific actor Christopher Walken, likewise, has made history as a supporting actor nominee for his role as Burt G. in Severance.
