Comedian Laura Clery’s world came crashing down when a 600-pound fridge fell on her when she was at home with her children. She was rushed to the hospital after the incident and said that she was in “intense pain.”
In a video shared to her Instagram, Clery was in an ambulance with a brace on her neck and oxygen in her nose. As she laid on the bed, Clery, who has a YouTube channel where she shares vlogs, sketches, and other content, asked the paramedic if a 600-pound fridge actually fell on her, to which he replied, “Yes.”
She gave a shoutout to the three men who pushed the fridge off her. Clery shared that she was given fentanyl to get rid of her pain. As a recovering addict, Clery shared that she was scared to take it, but was grateful she did because it relieved all of her pain, which was “so severe.”
“They got there so fast, broke through my garage door, and 3 of them pushed a 600-pound fridge off of me and got me safely to the trauma unit before things got worse,” Clery, who appeared in the Season 2, episode 18 of 2 Broke Girls as a receptionist, wrote.

“I keep thinking about how differently this could have gone, and I just feel overwhelming gratitude. No broken bones, my kids are okay and safe, I can walk… I’m so lucky! They were calm, kind, and just handled everything like absolute heroes! And then right as one of them pushes the fridge off me, he goes, ‘Wait… I watch all of your videos!’ and they all start hyping me up. Like sir… I am currently being flattened, but thank you.”
On her Patreon, the actress shared that her son decided to climb the French door fridge. It shifted slightly, so Clery ran to push it back into place. “I thought I’d just nudge it in and move on with my day like a woman who has control over her life. The second I pushed it, it came down on me, not slowly,” she wrote.
“Not in a way where I could catch it or jump out of the way. It just fell. The full weight of it slammed me backward into the kitchen island, pinning my lower back and hips. I couldn’t move. I tried to push it off, and it didn’t even slightly budge. It felt like pushing against a building.”
It got harder for Clery to inhale, and she had intense pain. Her daughter started to cry, and her son ran outside in a panic. “I’m just there, pinned under a fridge, thinking ‘This is the dumbest way anyone has ever died.'” Luckily, she had her phone with her and called 911.

The single mom shared videos from the stretcher, asking the EMTs if she broke anything. They said they didn’t know, so they had to take her to a trauma center. Clery was crying out in pain from her injuries.
“Most terrifying night of my life as a single mom. I was home alone, getting ready for bed, when my 600-pound fridge slammed into me and pinned me against the counter. I couldn’t move. Couldn’t breathe right. Was impossible to get off, and I could feel myself losing consciousness,” she wrote in another post.

“My kids were in the house. I genuinely didn’t know if I was getting out of that alive. Thank God my phone was in my pocket and I was able to call 911. Thank god it didn’t fall on my kids. It took three firefighters to lift it off me. I’m still shaking.”
In the comments, Clery said that the pain she experienced was similar to when she was fully dilated and having contractions with her two children. “I remember being stuck under this massive 600-pound stainless steel fridge, thinking if I don’t breathe, I’m going to lose consciousness. If that happens, my kids are alone in the home with no one coming, I was meant to take them to school in the morning,” she said.
Clery shared that she did not break any bones, which she was “very grateful” for. “This could have been so much worse,” she wrote.
Clery is now home and recovering. She had also starred in films — Two Deaths and The Longest Week — and shows ‘Til Death, Disaster Date, and Hungry.
