Adria Arjona Would Be ‘Great Wonder Woman,’ Says James Gunn… But It’s NOT Why He Followed Her

The pillars of James Gunn’s new DCU are Superman, Batman, Supergirl, and Wonder Woman. So far, we have casting news for half of those pillars. Superman is played by David Corenswet, and Supergirl is played by Milly Alcock. So naturally, comic fans are all abuzz wondering just who Gunn will cast as the DCU’s Wonder Woman and Batman. James Gunn isn’t saying. Probably because he doesn’t know yet. Recently, though, fans began speculating that Andor actress Adria Arjona might be in the casting mix for Wonder Woman. This is because they realized that James Gunn followed Arjona. But is there any merit to this detective work? While James Gunn recently agreed that an Andor star, Arjona, would make a “great Wonder Woman,” fans looking for signs everywhere to suss out Wonder Woman’s casting won’t find it in Gunn’s Instagram notifications.

Gunn discussed Adria Arjona’s potential Wonder Woman DCU casting, saying, “I followed Adria [Arjona] on Instagram. But, everybody came out [and said], ‘He just followed her! That means she’s Wonder Woman! That means she’s Wonder Woman!’ She’d be a great Wonder Woman, by the way, but she was in a movie that I made seven years ago. We’ve been friends, and have known each other, since that time. So, I followed her then. I didn’t just follow her. People just notice these things.”

Oops! That said, Adria Arjona would make for a great DCU Wonder Woman casting, and Gunn agrees. Maybe that could turn into something. Even though there was no merit to this online exchange, perhaps the speculation could kickstart something in Gunn’s brain. You never know how these things work. It would feel hilarious if Adria Arjona ended up as Wonder Woman after all.

What we do know is that it’s unlikely we’ll learn who the next Wonder Woman is through the minutia of social media, especially now that James Gunn knows everyone has their eyes out for any scraps of DC leaks. Still, Adria Arjona as Wonder Woman… we’ll pull for it!
