Demon Slayer season 4 has only just wrapped up, with the season finale airing on Crunchyroll just yesterday. WIth the season now over – and the series nearing its end – we now know what’s happening with Demon Slayer season 5, and to the surprise of many, it’s going out with quite a bang.

Aniplex announced that the final season of Demon Slayer, subtitled Infinity Castle, will be released as a trilogy of films, rather than a weekly anime series. Crunchyroll also announced that it had acquired the rights to all three films, and will release them theatrically worldwide.

Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment will be releasing all three films exclusively in theaters – although it’s safe to assume they’ll come to the anime streaming service eventually – around the world. Most regions will have their release handled by Crunchyroll, but some select regions in Asia, including Japan, will be handled by other distributors.

The Infinity Castle trilogy of films will wrap up the Demon Slayer series, bringing an end to one of the best anime series on Crunchyroll that started in 2019. Fans have known this was coming for a while, as the anime was quickly catching up to the manga, which ended in 2020.

“Demon Slayer has been a phenomenal franchise, and we at Crunchyroll are delighted to have been a part of it from the beginning,” said Rahul Purini, President of Crunchyroll. “Crunchyroll is thrilled to be able to bring this trilogy of films to fans, on the big screen, and it promises to be one of the truly epic and consequential pop cultural events of our time when it hits theaters.”

No date has been set for the release of any of the three Demon Slayer Infinity Castle films, and it’s unclear if the trilogy will be available in theaters dubbed as well as subbed. We’ll keep an eye out for more information in the future.
