No, seriously, an entire Phase of the MCU came and went without anyone noticing. After two animated shows, Marvel will close out the calendar year with a live-action series. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will star as Simon Williams, a super powered actor with a super secret. The Disney+ animated series is returning for a second season, but it’s not clear if it’ll make it to the streaming site in 2026 or (what we’d guess would be early) 2027. Marvel executive Brad Winderbaum has previously said he’d like a new season every year, but that in animation “there’s a bigger gap between season 1 and season 2 than in subsequent season.”

Black Panther 3 is definitely happening. Kevin Feige himself confirmed that at the end of 2024. Director Ryan Coogler is even writing a part specifically for Denzel Washington. But we have no idea when it will go into production, let alone when it will come to theaters. If it arrives before the end of 2027, it will be part of Phase 6.

After an uncomfortable amount of years where no one even acknowledged the character’s existence, Marvel Studios proved they actually did remember Simu Liu’s superhero is part of the franchise when they announced he’ll appear in Doomsday. That should finally lead the way for Shang-Chi 2, but the sequel still feels a long ways away so it seems more likely to come out during Phase 7 alongside other projects like an X-Men movie and a third Doctor Strange entry.
