Grateful Dead announce 60-CD box set to commemorate 60th anniversary

Grateful Dead's fan base is as devoted as any musical artist's. To that end, if any band's fans are going to be down to buy a box set comprised of 60, that is 6-0, CDs, it's the Deadheads.

"Enjoying the Ride" is being released to celebrate 60 years of the Grateful Dead. Now, if you're thinking, "But the Dead are all about the live experience!" you won't find any disagreement in this release. The entire 60-CD set features live recordings of the band. "Enjoying the Ride" is made up of recordings of live shows from between 1969 and 1994, including 17 full concerts. The Instagram post from the Dead's account says the music is "nearly all" previously unreleased, though of course that is meant in an official sense. You might have some bootlegs of these shows, but one imagines the audio quality will be higher here.

Though "Enjoying the Ride" will be released on May 30, you can pre-order it right now. You may want to get to doing that, because copies are limited. It's not easy to produce 60-CD box sets, after all. If you miss out on your copy of the box set, or if it seems a bit too cumbersome, fret not. A truncated version, "The Music Never Stopped," is also being released on May 30. That version is only three CDs, or six LPs, so decidedly more manageable for the Deadheads out there with limited space.
