Netflix’s 'House of Guinness' is shaping up to be a period drama with a modern twist, blending high-stakes family rivalry and historical intrigue. Created by Steven Knight, the series centers on a wealthy family’s internal power struggles, echoing themes familiar to viewers of 'Succession,' while Knight’s signature style recalls the tension and atmosphere of 'Peaky Blinders.' The recently released trailer offers the first look at the show’s tone, visuals, and production values.
'House of Guinness' stars Brian Gleeson, Tom Rhys Harries, and Olivia Grant, among others, portraying members of the Guinness family caught up in rivalry, ambition, and betrayal. Set in the late 19th century, the story follows the death of patriarch Benjamin Guinness and the ensuing conflict among his children over the family brewery, spanning both Dublin and New York. Knight also serves as executive producer, bringing his signature stylized approach to the historical drama.
The show premieres on Netflix on Sept. 25. Like Guinness beer itself, it should at least be worth sampling.
