'J-Rod' is no more: Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez reportedly break-up

Well, this is depressing.

According to TMZ , Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez will go their separate ways after a four-year relationship, including a two-year engagement. The outlet is "unclear what caused the split."

Lopez, ironically, is in the Dominican Republic filming Shotgun Wedding. The 51-year-old is also a producer on the romantic comedy, which stars Josh Duhamel—replacing the embattled Armie Hammer—opposite J-Lo.

A-Rod appears to have visited Lopez on set in late February:

That is the last time they posted a photo or video together on social media, however. Rodriguez posted solo to Instagram earlier Friday:

The power couple first met coincidentally in winter 2016 before making their public debut at the Met Gala the following spring, as explained in an October 2017 Vanity Fair cover story by Bethany McClean:

"It was last winter as she was having lunch in Beverly Hills that she saw Rodriguez walk by. 'I almost yelled out ‘Alex,’ but I am the shyest person when it comes to things like that,” she says. When she went outside, he was still there, facing away from her. 'I could literally just have walked away,' she says. 'But I walk over and tap him on the shoulder and say ‘Hey.’"

Their engagement was announced almost exactly two years ago on March 9, 2019:

Rodriguez retired from Major League Baseball in 2016. Throughout his three-time MVP career, he played for the Seattle Mariners (1994-2000), Texas Rangers (2001-03) and New York Yankees (2004-16). The 45-year-old was suspended for the entire 2014 season for performance-enhancing drugs. It could be said that his relationship with Lopez helped endear him to the public after the steroid scandal.

Lopez and Rodriguez's last public appearance together was at President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris' inauguration ceremony in late January. Rodriguez supported Lopez as she performed "This Land Is Your Land" and "America the Beautiful."
