The world of DC Studios under James Gunn's creative control continues to expand. One project still in question is a series centered on Amanda Waller, the leader of Task Force X and architect of the Suicide Squad. 'Waller' had seemed to be pushed aside, but Gunn has assured fans the project remains in development.
When asked about the Amanda Waller series, Gunn said, “We’re working on it, so we’ll see what happens. Some things have moved faster than others.” Interest in the project has been steady. Back in February, Gunn said season two of 'Peacemaker' had taken priority, and the Hollywood strikes further delayed 'Waller.'
With season two of 'Peacemaker' now out, creative attention can shift to 'Waller.' The series would give DC and Warner Bros. a chance to showcase Viola Davis, an Oscar winner and one of the most acclaimed actors working today, in a leading role on Max.
Before 'Waller' arrives, however, DC plans to release 'Lanterns,' another spinoff series scheduled for early 2026.
