Legendary Comedian Jay Leno Reveals Brutal Injury To His Face

Longtime comedian Jay Leno was sporting an eye patch while at the Comedy for Koby event on Monday night.

Leno, 74, spoke to TMZ about his new look. It turns out he suffered a nasty bruise to the left side of his face after falling down a hill. The former "Tonight Show" host said his face smashed against a rock.

"I was staying at a hotel on a hill. I said, ‘Where’s a good place to eat? Oh, the bottom.’ The restaurant was there, but to get to it, I didn’t have a car, so I had to walk about a mile and a half around," Leno told TMZ. "I thought, ‘Well, the hill doesn’t look that steep. It’s about 60, 70 feet. Let me see if I can go down the hill. I rolled down the hill, hit my head on a rock, it knocked me in my eye."

Despite suffering an injury to his face, Leno completed a comedy show before going to the hospital.

"It’s not that big a deal," Leno said when asked why he performed just hours after his fall. "It’s all right."

So, what has Leno learned from this incident? Apparently, nothing at all.

"The great thing about this age is you don’t learn by your mistakes," Leno said. "You just keep doing the same stupid thing."

Unfortunately for Leno, he's no stranger to wild accidents. In 2022, he suffered third-degree burns to his face after one of his cars caught fire in his garage. A few months later, he was involved in a motorcycle accident.

Hopefully, this freak incident is the last obstacle Leno deals with for at least the next couple of years.
