Melissa Rauch Bids Farewell to ‘Night Court’ After NBC Cancels Series
Nicole Weingart/NBC

Despite hopes of saving Night Court from cancellation, Melissa Rauch is officially saying goodbye to the NBC comedy.

“I have held off on posting anything about Night Court not continuing until I knew we did everything in our power to find another home for it,” Rauch wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, June 18. “Perhaps it was being raised on The Goonies ‘Never Say Die’ motto or straight up denial that I didn’t want this incredibly special experience to come to an end. That said, after turning over all the stones there were to be turned over, we’ve learned that it is officially the hour to say ‘farewell.’ Or at least ‘Until next time.’”

Rauch went on to express her “gratitude” to “each and every incredible individual who worked on this show and poured their hearts into it” and to “everyone who watched and supported us.”

She continued, “As a kid whose best friend was TV, getting to play make believe with comedy legends on the recreation of a set I watched as a little girl felt like stepping through the looking glass in the best possible way. Walking through those iconic halls. Sitting at the cafeteria tables with the chairs from the original. Feeling the electricity from the live studio audience on a tape night while doing a courtroom scene surrounded by a brilliant, powerhouse group of actors, phenomenally gifted writers and the best crew in the biz. It all felt exceptionally dream-like.”

The actress recalled that the creator of the original Night Court, Reinhold Weege, once said that “the courtroom doors were key to the show’s engine as they ushered in endless stories,” adding, “I like to think that’s how Night Court carries on. Just as it did in the 30 years between the first incarnation ending and us beginning.”

Rauch concluded her lengthy message by writing, “The evergreen revolving door of oddballs and cynics populating that Manhattan arraignment court in the wee hours of the night and at the center of it all a workplace family that will forever be…until next time.”

Alongside her emotional message, Rauch shared a video montage of behind-the-scenes pics of herself and the Night Court cast and crew.

Several celebs expressed sadness over the revival’s cancellation in the post’s comments. “You are a gem and a force. Kind and determined. We love you, and will miss the show immensely,” wrote Rauch’s former The Big Bang Theory costar Kunal Nayyar, who guest starred in a Season 2 episode of Night Court last year.

Young Sheldon‘s Raegan Revord, who also had a guest star stint on Night Court, commented, “So glad I got to be a teeny tiny part of the show and got to experience your amazing set with your amazing cast and crew! Love you so much!”

Night Court — a revival of the original 1984 series — was canceled last month, just days after the show’s Season 3 finale. The season ended on a cliffhanger, with Abby Stone’s (Rauch) husband, played by The Big Bang Theory‘s Simon Helberg, kissing her in front of Dan Fielding (John Larroquette) and her boyfriend, Jake (Ryan Hansen), who was about to propose.

The episode concluded with a “To Be Continued…” title card, leaving fans to wonder what would have happened next.

Commanders looking to trade offensive star amid Terry McLaurin drama

The Washington Commanders have another offensive player on the radar for the preseason trade market. Per NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Commanders are shopping running back Brian Robinson Jr. in the final year of his rookie contract. "Sources: The Commanders have been shopping RB Brian Robinson Jr. to teams around the NFL," Schultz posted on X. "The former 3rd-round pick out of Alabama is entering the final year of his contract." Robinson's situation with the Commanders comes at a time when Terry McLaurin's future with the team is unclear. The star wide receiver requested a trade early during training camp amid an impasse in negotiations with the front office for a contract extension. On Saturday, the Commanders took McLaurin off the physically unable to perform list, but the move doesn't mean anything has changed on the stalemate front. Offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury has been frustrated with injuries and McLaurin's contract situation making it hard on the staff to prepare and evaluate the unit for the regular season. Robinson's potential trade is another obstacle Kingsbury will have to think about in the preseason. Kinsbury recently praised Robinson for his performance last week against the New England Patriots. "He's a guy that when you put the pads on and you really practice full speed is when he really shows up," Kinsbury said, via JP Finlay of NBC Sports. "I thought he had his best practice against New England when we did the competition versus them before the game." Robinson has appeared in 41 games and started 37. He's rushed for 2,329 yards and 15 touchdowns during his first three years in the league. He's added 587 receiving yards and five touchdowns in the passing game. With one more preseason game remaining, the Commanders have their No. 1 receiver and running back attached to the trade market.

Green Bay Packers Coach Laments Latest Injury For RB Marshawn Lloyd

Green Bay Packers running backs coach Ben Sirmans didn’t hold back his empathy when discussing Marshawn Lloyd, the second-year running back who can’t seem to catch a break. During the Packers’ preseason victory over the Indianapolis Colts, Lloyd sustained yet another setback—a hamstring injury. It’s just the latest chapter in what has been an injury-plagued NFL career for the 2024 third-round pick. “It’s just unfortunate,” Sirmans said, expressing both frustration and optimism. “You’re very supportive of him, and that’s why you just talk to him about, ‘You’ve just got to keep pressing ahead.’” Despite the challenges, the Packers coaching staff remains committed to Lloyd, believing in his potential and his work ethic. Green Bay Packers Marshawn Lloyd: Another Injury Marshawn Lloyd’s hamstring injury happened during a promising moment against the Colts—a 33-yard reception on a wheel route from quarterback Malik Willis. It was a showcase of his explosive ability, but it quickly turned into another unfortunate end to an outing. Packers head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed Lloyd’s hamstring strain, stating that the running back would “miss some time” but refrained from offering a timeline for his return. This preseason mishap comes just weeks after Lloyd sustained a groin injury during the first padded practice of training camp. It’s a frustrating déjà vu for Lloyd, who has spent much of his short NFL career battling one physical setback after another. Lloyd’s Injury History Lloyd’s struggles began before his rookie season even kicked off. After being drafted in 2024, he started training camp on the non-football injury list due to an offseason hip issue. When he finally took the field during the preseason, he suffered a hamstring injury that sidelined him for the season opener. Lloyd played his first NFL game in Week 2 against the Colts, but the excitement was short-lived. A high ankle sprain forced him out of the game after just 10 snaps. The Green Bay Packers placed him on injured reserve, and when Lloyd was on the verge of returning, he experienced a new setback—appendicitis that required emergency surgery. That, coupled with his initial hamstring injuries, ended his rookie year before it ever really had a chance to start. This year’s preseason was supposed to be Lloyd’s fresh start, a chance to prove why the Packers invested significant draft capital in him. Instead, the groin and hamstring injuries have brought back many of the same concerns about his durability. Sirmans and LaFleur Stand By Lloyd Despite the challenges, both Sirmans and head coach Matt LaFleur continue to show unwavering support for Lloyd. Sirmans highlighted Lloyd’s flashes of brilliance, praising his ability to create space and make defenders miss. “He’s a guy that you like to get in open space, and sometimes he can create his own space,” Sirmans said. The running back coach pointed to a play against the Colts where Lloyd turned what should have been a 3-yard loss into a 4-yard gain with a clever move in the backfield. Even with his limited playing time, Lloyd has consistently displayed traits that make him an enticing prospect. His quick burst, agility, and potential as a dual-threat back are the reasons the Packers continue to believe that his bad luck will turn around. LaFleur echoed Sirmans’ faith in Lloyd, calling him an “explosive player” and emphasizing his work ethic. Looking Forward The Packers have taken steps to manage Lloyd’s recurring injuries. Last offseason, they sent him to the Badger Athletic Performance Center at UW-Madison, hoping to pinpoint issues and create a tailored plan to prevent further setbacks. While these efforts haven’t yet paid off in full, they highlight the organization’s investment in Lloyd’s development. For Lloyd, the road to durability remains as challenging as it is critical. His dynamic playmaking ability has been evident in the glimpses he’s provided, but he’ll need a sustained run of health to solidify his place on the Packers roster. The Green Bay Packers open their regular season on September 7 against the Detroit Lions. Whether Lloyd will be ready for the season remains unclear, but Sirmans put it best when reminding everyone to stay optimistic about the young running back’s future. “Hopefully he can rebound from this and we can get him back at some point,” LaFleur said. “Because he certainly has shown a skill set and playmaking ability.” For now, patience is the name of the game as Lloyd works toward his long-awaited breakout.

Raiders’ Pete Carroll gushes about key offseason acquisition after loss to 49ers

While most Las Vegas Raiders fans are excited about Ashton Jeanty in the preseason, other players under the radar made an impact in the 22-19 loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday. When the Raiders signed former Pittsburgh Steelers safety Terrell Edmunds, people were wondering how he would perform, as he’s already caught the attention of head coach Pete Carroll. After Edmunds recorded five total tackles (fourth on the team), three of them solo, against San Francisco, Carroll would be asked about his thoughts on the former first-round pick’s performance. Carroll would say how much he “really” likes Edmunds and how much of a “very versatile player” he is for the system, according to Anthony Galaviz. “I like him. Yeah, I really like him. I like the experience that he brings,” Carroll said. “He’s been in a lot of situations. He’s been a very versatile player in the style that he’s been asked to play, and that’s shown up already.” Edmunds would speak with reporters for the first time last Tuesday since being signed by Las Vegas and shared how “excited” he was to start a new chapter in his NFL journey. “My first thoughts when the opportunity presented itself, I was just excited,” Edmunds said, via the team’s YouTube page. “Excited to come and join a new team, excited to come and join these guys. I saw how much they were grinding. I watched the (preseason) game before I even came out here.” Pete Carroll on the Raiders losing to the 49ers in the preseason Despite the loss from the Raiders to the 49ers, Carroll would point out the one positive being that it was a “hard-fought game from start to finish,” with many areas that need correction. “First off, I thought this was a really good, hard-fought game from start to finish,” Pete Carroll said in his post-game press conference, via the team’s website. “We had some things that we needed to correct from the practice that we had, and we did. Played the running game much more with impact than we did in practice.” “The adjustments the coaches made worked out well, players were able to adapt in just a couple days time,” Carroll continued. “Against a really formidable running team that loves to run the football, I thought we did that really well. Just a terrific game back and forth the whole time.” Consequently, as Edmunds looks for Las Vegas to be his permanent team, they open the season on Sunday, Sept. 7, against the New England Patriots.

Steelers' Rookie Defender Receives Strong Stamp Of Approval Following 2nd Preseason Game

The Pittsburgh Steelers are finding out a lot about their young players in the 2025 preseason, but there may be nobody who has surprised as much as rookie defensive end Yahya Black. A fifth-round pick out of Iowa, Black was touted as a stout, plugging run defender with not much else to offer. Through two preseason games, he's poised to prove everyone wrong. Black gained some notoriety in 2025 training camp from batting down passes at the line of scrimmage, something he likely learned from veteran defensive end Cameron Heyward. In his first preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, his presence didn't go unnoticed among NFL analysts. While rushing the passer was supposed to be a weakness, Black hasn't shown it so far. Pro Football Focus gave him a pass rush grade of 82.3 in Week 1, logging a pressure, a hurry, and two tackles on only 11 total snaps. In addition, he had a respectable run defense grade of 72.6. Black was PFF's fourth highest graded rookie interior defensive lineman in Week 1 of the preseason. Playing only seven pass-rush snaps, he had an impressive 42.9% pass rush win rate. Brian Baldinger and PFF aren't the only ones taking notice of Black. Bob Labriola of the Steelers' official website, in his recent asked and answered segment, wrote that he believes that Black won't only make the roster, but will be a regular in the defensive line rotation. "With training camp and 1 preseason game under his belt, I believe Yayha Black is on the path to showing enough to be a part of the regular season gameday rotation along the defensive line." Those are certainly strong words towards day three draft pick, but they definitely aren't unwarranted. Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin also had some encouraging remarks for the young lineman following the 2025 NFL Draft, comparing him to a Ford F-350. In a limited sample size, and coming off of a good camp, Black has proven that his supposed weaknesses may have been misguided, and that there's more to him than early scouting reports suggested. There's no longer a question of whether he will make the team, and now the focus moves onto how much he will contribute right away in a crowded defensive line room. If Black can continue to show some pass rush versatility in addition to his already promising run defense, it'll be hard to keep him off of the field. Steelers' Yahya Black Is Dealing With A Concerning Arm Injury While Black got off to an explosive start in his first preseason game, things quieted down on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. At least part of his disappearance in Week 2 can be attributed to an arm injury that Black suffered between the two games, prompting him to wear an arm brace that undoubtedly limited mobility. Black's PFF grade in game 2 plummeted to 54.3, with only a 50.5 pass rush grade. These grades are reflected in the box score, where Black played over double the snaps from the previous week and failed to record a single stat. Nonetheless, Black is looking to build on his promising start in the final week of the 2025 preseason, when the Steelers travel to Charlotte to take on the Carolina Panthers. Will Black continue to build on his promising first performance, over a week removed from injury, and make his case for the starting defensive line rotation? The Steelers certainly hope so.
