'My Little Pony' live-action film in the works from Hasbro and Amazon Studios

Since the very successful live-action Barbie movie in 2023, we’ve gotten a long list of very strange upcoming films. The Margot Robbie vehicle is spawning an entire Mattel Cinematic Universe that includes everything from a Matchbox live-action film to a more “adult” Barney venture. Hasbro is also getting into the game of toys inspiring live-action films with My Little Pony. According to Variety, Hasbro and Amazon MGM Studios will bring those colorful and magical ponies to life in a feature film.

My Little Pony toys are a staple among several generations after their release back in 1982. Since then, we’ve seen a few animated series as well as some films, but never a live-action My Little Pony feature. As we all know, the fandom for these cleverly named ponies with lush hair goes far beyond little girls. There’s an entire sector of fandom known as “bronies,” who are teenagers and adult men that found a connection to these characters. So there’s a true potential for this film to resonate with a wide audience.

So far, there’s no casting news nor further details about the live-action My Little Pony film. We will have to see if faves like Twilight Sparkle will appear here. But we are going to add it to Hasbro’s list of curious upcoming movies like a Clue TV series and film.
