'My Uncle Is Superman': Henry Cavill Reveals How No-One Believed His Nephew’s Superhero Claim

One can only picture a little one’s excitement when they learn their parent or relative is one of the most famous superheroes. Anyone would want to shout that to the world. And that is exactly what Henry Cavill‘s nephew did. Unlike Jennifer Lawrence’s nephew, Henry Cavill’s nephew was excited to reveal that his uncle was the strongest hero in the DC Universe.

Cavill revealed that his nephew went to school dressed up as Superman and told his classmates that his uncle is the DC superhero. Unfortunately, no one believed his story, which ultimately led him into trouble with his teachers. Here’s the adorable story.

During his recent appearance on the Graham Norton Show, Henry Cavill revealed how his nephew, Thomas, got in trouble at school because of his superhero role. “He’s famous in school for telling tall tales,” the actor said of his nephew. When little Thomas came to school dressed up as Superman and claimed his uncle was the DC hero, no one believed him.

“He went in this little Superman outfit. The teacher said, ‘Why are you wearing this?’ and he said well because my uncle is Superman,” the actor recalled. Not believing Thomas’ claims, his teacher advised the seven-year-old not to tell lies.

“She was like Thomas tell the truth. And he [Thomas] says ‘No, no, no my uncle is Superman,'” Cavill further recalled. Little Thomas thus got in trouble at school for what her teacher assumed to be a lie.

“At the end of the school, my sister-in-law goes to collect him and the teacher says, ‘Listen I’ve really had enough. He now lying to all his schoolmates saying that his uncle is Superman,” Cavill laughingly continued, “At which point my sister-in-law goes. Unfortunately, he is. And my nephew goes to class ‘Told you!'”

Although Thomas’ mother assured his teacher that the child was not lying, she gave a call to her brother-in-law, Henry Cavill. Since Thomas had acquired the reputation of a liar, she asked Cavill to do her a favor. The next day, Thomas again wore a Superman t-shirt while Cavill accompanied him. As expected, everyone was astonished to see Thomas come to school with Superman.

Henry Cavill became a real superhero for his nephew that day. Meanwhile, the DC actor is expected to star in 2025’s ‘In The Grey’ along with Rosamund Pike, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Eiza González. The movie is an action thriller that revolves around the chase of millions of dollars of stolen money.
