Not every television sibling is cute and funny. There are plenty that viewers love to hate, or at least don't really like. Here's our list.
1 of 20
Kathy Anderson ("Father Knows Best")
Rodney-Young Productions; Screen Gems
The Andersons are as wholesome as a family could get, and one of the most iconic TV families of all time. Betty, aka "Princess" (Elinor Donahue) is oldest of the three Anderson children and the perfect TV child. Brother Bud (Billy Gray) is the token goofball, and perhaps the funniest character on the show. Then there is Kathy, aka "Kitten" (Lauren Chapin), the youngest of the Anderson brood, who like most younger TV sibs is whiny, and annoyingly always trying to do stuff her brothers and sisters are doing. She constantly gets into hairy situations that probably could have been avoided if she had more stern parents.

Wayne Arnold ("The Wonder Years")
The Black-Marlens Company; New World Television
Wayne (Jason Hervey) is a typical older brother who has trouble picking on younger bro Kevin (Fred Savage). Wayne could be mean and physically abusive at times, often punching Kevin, chasing him down, and wrestling him to the ground. He also fancied calling Kevin names, such as "butthead." Plain and simple, Wayne is a bully, though as the series went on and he grew older, he proved he could handle responsibility.
3 of 20
Hilary Banks ("The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air")
NBC
For as well-off as the Banks family is, the children are rather down to Earth. Well, maybe not Hilary (Karyn Parsons), who is conceited. overly obsessed with her looks, and had no problem drawing attention to herself. She can get a little nauseating at times, but in a rather charming way that usually drew a healthy amount of laughs throughout the successful run of the show.
4 of 20
Eve Baxter ("Last Man Standing")
ABC/Fox
First off, we won't find any of Tim Allen's three TV sons on this list from Home Improvement. However, the three daughters of his Mike Baxter from Last Man Standing were more involved in the weekly storylines and funnier than his past male co-stars. Sarcastic tomboy Eve (Kaitlyn Dever) might be the least tolerable of the bunch. She's smart and athletically talented, and despite being the youngest sibling, has no problem picking on her older sisters — notably ditzy, fashion-obsessed Mandy (Molly Ephraim). Sometimes Eve can be a little too much.
5 of 20
Bobby Brady ("The Brady Bunch")
Redwood Productions; Paramount Television
We could easily add sister Cindy (Susan Olsen) to this list, but Bobby was consistently more annoying. The youngest of the three Brady boys, Bobby (Mike Lookinland) had plenty of issues. He wished he was tall, and ended getting both himself and brother Greg (Barry Williams) locked in Sam the butcher's meat locker. He also whined about never winning a trophy and turned Greg's hair orange while being scammed for trying to make money off some shoddy hair tonic. During the famed one-off Christmas special in later years, we learn that Bobby dropped out of college to become a race car driver.
6 of 20
Manny Delgado ("Modern Family")
ABC
It would be easy to bash on Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Claire (Julie Bowen), but step-brother Manny (Rico Rodriguez) got more annoying as he got older. In the early seasons of this iconic sitcom, the young Manny was funny while spurting knowledge and observations wise beyond his years. However, as he aged and got more into girls and adult things, he became too tough to take serious.
7 of 20
Candace Flynn ("Phineas And Ferb")
Disney Television Animation
There's actually reason to feel sorry for Candace (Ashley Tisdale). All she wants is a little attention as her brothers tend to get whatever they want. Or, get away with whatever they want, is more accurate. Candace can't catch a break when it comes to her consistent attempts at busting her brothers. But, she also gets too consumed with her quests that viewers can actually get bored with the plot lines.
8 of 20
Debbie Gallagher ("Shameless")
John Wells Productions; Warner Bros. Television; Showtime Networks
Now, any fan of Shameless knows just about every member of the dysfunctional — but ridiculously entertaining — Gallagher family. Yet, for some reason Deb (Emma Kenney) really seems to grind our gears. And it's not just because she's a teen mom, though she becomes more disrespectful and insufferable the older she gets. We prefer the younger, entrepreneurial Debbie, who seemed like she'd be the only Gallagher sibling to make it.
9 of 20
Ross Geller ("Friends")
The WB Television Network
To be fair, sister Monica (Courteney Cox) could be on this list since she's usually relegated to second fiddle behind Ross — though she can beat him up. That said, Ross (David Schwimmer) might be the most disliked character on the classic sitcom. No doubt, the nerdy paleontologist was the least funny of the six main characters on the show. His whining and woe-is-me demeanor were tiring, especially regarding his relationship with Rachel (Jennifer Aniston).
10 of 20
Barry Goldberg ("The Goldbergs")
Adam F. Goldberg Productions; Happy Madison Productions
There's definitely a case to be made for Barry (Troy Gentile) as the funniest member of the Goldberg family. Maybe because Barry just doesn't care how much he humiliates himself — often in public. He's not good as sports, but that doesn't keep him from thinking he'll play for his hometown Philadelphia Eagles. Barry also has fancied himself to be rapper (aka Big Tasty), with no rhyme skills, and a popular social figure while leading the "JTP" (Jenkintown Posse) with his socially awkward buddies. Barry is always scheming, usually to no avail. Though he's funny, it was easy for Barry to get on viewers' nerves each week.
11 of 20
Brian Hackett ("Wings")
Grub Street Productions; Paramount Network Television
Perhaps one of the more underrated television siblings, brothers Joe and Brian Hackett could not be more different. Joe (Tim Daly) is strait-laced and a bit stuffy. Brian (Steven Weber) was carefree and usually up for a good time, while both co-ran the small Sandpiper Air on Nantucket. However, whenever there is a predicament or jam finding the brothers, Brian is usually at fault. Come on, he smashed a rented big-screen TV, ran up several dollars in parking tickets while using his brother's car and even lost the plane at one point. Oh yeah, prior to the events of the sitcom, we learned Brian stole Joe's fiancee.
12 of 20
Sue Heck ("The Middle")
Blackie and Blondie Productions; Warner Bros. Television
A family scraping to get by, essentially living paycheck to paycheck remains a modern-day reality for a majority of Americans. The Middle might have offered the most honest depiction of that life on television in quite a while. However, trying-to-fit-in daughter Sue is arguably the toughest to watch, though actress Eden Sher delivered a unheralded performance in the role. She's eager and well-meaning, but completely awkward in social situations -- even worse than eccentric younger brother Brick (Atticus Shaffer). So much so that her antics are often uncomfortable to the eye.
13 of 20
J.T. Lambert ("Step by Step")
YouTube
Part of ABC's "TGIF" Friday during a good chunk of the 1990s, Step by Step was a modern-day version of The Brady Bunch. Starring established Hollywood vets Suzanne Somers and Patrick Duffy, whose characters marry and blend their children together into one family. J.T. (Brandon Call) is the son of Duffy's Frank, and arguably one of the most annoying characters in the history of TGIF lore. A teen who wants to be, and often thinks he is, cool. Instead, he bungles many situations and constantly cuts corners to achieve success in various situation. What's fun is watching him get razzed by step-sister Dana (Staci Keanan).
14 of 20
Oliver Otto ("American Housewife")
ABC
The only male amid the three Otto kids from this hilariously underrated ABC sitcom, Oliver (Daniel DiMaggio) is obsessed with trying to get his family, and mostly himself, to fit in among the high-class residents of toney Westport, Conn. While Oliver certainly his some memorable comedic moments, more often than not his ragging on his parents for being middle class and regularly shunning the white-collar vibe of the community is tiresome. He's also way too obsessed with going to Harvard.
15 of 20
Reese ("Malcolm In The Middle")
Satin City Productions; Regency Television; Fox Television Studios
Is it fair to call the older brother of Malcolm (Frankie Muniz) a bully? Sure, but perhaps within the confines of his own family. Reese (Justin Berfield), the second-oldest child in the family, is a slacker, schemer and agitator. However, he's not really good any of those, and his missions for mayhem usually fail or blow up in his face. Reese can be irritating to watch, but there are plenty of times we feel sorry for his cause. Well, maybe just a few times.
16 of 20
Dee and Dennis Reynolds ("It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia")
3 Arts Entertainment; FXP
We just couldn't pick between the two. There might not be a more dysfunctional or downright nasty set of twins than Dennis and "Sweet Dee." Dennis (Glenn Howerton) may or may not be a serial killer. In addition to being a terrible bartender, Dee (Kaitlin Olson) is an aspiring actor who is just as bad at that. And, really an even worse person, especially to the customers at their bar. At least they have each other.
17 of 20
Tonya Rock ("Everybody Hates Chris")
YouTube
Everybody might hate Chris, but younger sister Tonya (Imani Hakim) could be the most unlikable member of the family. Now, Tonya is undeniably spoiled, and she milks it for just about everything. She's also pretty ruthless towards Chris (Tyler James Williams), who might very well be afraid of his sister. Some fans of the show have even referred to Tonya as the "devil."
18 of 20
Damon and Stefan Salvatore ("The Vampire Diaries")
Outerbanks Entertainment; The CW
Another sibling pair where it was too tough to pick just one. Stefan (Paul Wesley) was the good boy: kind, caring, and willing to sacrifice his life for the people he cared about. Damon (Ian Somerhalder), the bad boy, is manipulative and usually out for himself, though he eventually shows his softer side and love for his brother. The problem, throughout the course of this popular CW supernatural teen drama, it was exhausting for the viewer to keep up with their relationship. After a while, we just didn't care how they turned out.
19 of 20
D.J. Tanner ("Full House")
Jeff Franklin Productions; Miller-Boyett Productions
Here us out. D.J. (Candace Cameron Bure) is too good, whether on the classic Full House or Fuller House reboot. Yes, she's the oldest of three Tanner daughters and the most practical. But, in terms of fictional television entertainment, sisters Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) and Michelle (Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen) are much funnier and likable. Especially in the early years of Full House, when D.J. tried to act older than she was.
20 of 20
Dee Thomas ("What's Happening!!")
YouTube
When it comes to all-time memorable, bratty TV siblings, Dee Thomas (Danielle Spencer) might top the list. For those of a certain age unfamiliar with this 1970s' comedy about a lower-class family, led by a hard-working single mother in Los Angeles, What's Happening!! should be revisited. If anything, viewers will find laughs watching Dee mess with and extort money from older brother Raj (Earnest Thomas) or hilariously zinging his buddy "Rerun" (Fred Berry).
