The 25 best songs of 2025 (so far)

Summer is officially here, and many music fans are seeking that perfect song to soundtrack these warmer days. While many fans are still debating over which song deserves the coveted title of "song of the summer," there’s been no shortage of fire tracks that have stayed on our playlists since January. From rap ballads to surprise comebacks, here’s our roundup of the year’s best jams so far.

Rising star Doechii initially released her song “Anxiety” on YouTube back in 2019. However, the sample of Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know” had fans rehashing the song across their social media, causing it to go viral. Due to fans making it popular, Doechii decided to officially release it as a single on the deluxe version of her mixtape Alligator Bites Never Heal.

Nothing brings people together like a line dance, and thankfully, music lovers have been showing off their skills to 803Fresh’s hit single “Boots on the Ground.” While 803Fresh is the artist behind the song, dancer Tre Little is the one who created the choreography for fun. Once Little uploaded his video on social media, it became a viral sensation, and now people make sure to have the fans in their hand when the song comes on.

At the top of the year, reggaeton star Bad Bunny released his fifth album Debí Tirar Más Fotos, which featured his hit single Baile Inolvidable.” On the track, Bunny is trying to get over a failed relationship, but he's finding it difficult to move on.

Although Kendrick Lamar released his surprise album GNX in late November 2024, a number of the songs have been in heavy rotation and favorites on the Billboard charts all through this year. One of the tracks is the SZA-assisted single “Luther,” a song that samples the Luther Vandross and Cheryl Lynn rendition of “If This World Were Mine.” On the track, Lamar and SZA highlight how if they had the power, they would give the world to their partners.

Well, Cardi is finally giving fans what they want. Her new album Am I The Drama? is set set to be released in September, and it’s led by the single “Outside.” It’s a summer bop that finds Cardi detailing her single life as she's ready to have fun and mingle.

Leon Thomas might have released his single “Mutt” back in August 2024, but it’s been one of those slow burn tracks that is getting it’s long-awaited just due. Although Thomas has released a few remixes to the track with artists like Freddie Gibbs and Chris Brown, it’s the original track that has finally cracked the top 15 on the Billboard Hot 100, nearly a year after its release. Perhaps Thomas’ recent performance of the track helped push the rotation further, whatever the case is, this is just the beginning of seeing Thomas’ star rise even higher.
