‘The Bad Batch’ Season 3 Episode 12 Recap & Review: Phee Saves the Day

Warning: Spoilers ahead for The Bad Batch Season 3, Episode 12.

The Bad Batch Season 3 Episode 12 is now available on Disney+ and while perhaps not as strong as the episodes that precede it, it still delivers some vital exposition and best-in-class Star Wars action. The latest installment mirrors an issue from The Mandalorian Season 3, with a seemingly unimportant “mission of the week” happening just three episodes ahead of the series finale.

This isn’t inherently a bad thing; in a vacuum, this is still a brilliant episode of television full of everything that makes The Bad Batch such a great show. However, it feels a bit too late to include an episode deviating so far from the main story on the hunt for intel. Nonetheless, let’s dive into all the details in our Bad Batch Season 3, Episode 12 recap.

Omega Returns to Tantiss in ‘The Bad Batch’ Season 3, Episode 12

The Bad Batch Season 3, Episode 12 opens with Omega (Michelle Ang) arriving at Tantiss, and Dr. Royce Hemlock (Jimmi Simpson) is there to greet her. Dr. Hemlock orders Dr. Emerie Karr (Keisha Castle-Hughes) to begin testing her blood at once, and she obeys. Back on Pabu, Hunter, Wrecker, and Crosshair (Dee Bradley Baker) discuss how to find Omega.

Crosshair tells them Admiral Rampart (Noshir Dalal), who is on Erebus, may know the coordinates of Tantiss base. Phee (Wanda Sykes) and AZI-3 (Ben Diskin) join Clone Force 99 and offer them a way out of the city. Upon arriving at Erebus, Phee tells them she can get them to the perimeter undetected, then swoop him for a clean pickup.

She drops them off at the perimeter, and they infiltrate with supreme stealth. The three secure a turbo tank while also rescuing Rampart and the other prisoners. It’s here that Rampart reveals he will only tell them of Tantiss’ location if they can escort him off the planet.

The team gets into a vicious skirmish on the bridge and narrowly escapes through to the other side. Inside the turbo tank, Rampart tries to shoot Crosshair but misses, and Crosshair stuns him. Once the team is across the bridge, gunships intercept them and shoot out their controls.

Just before falling off a cliff, Phee flies in and saves the crew. Rampart tells them no one knows the coordinates of Tantiss, but there may be a workaround. Back on Tantiss, Omega’s test reveals her blood yielded a favorable M-count replication. When asked what that means, Dr. Hemlock escorts her to the vault with the other children, and welcomes her to “her new home.”

The Bad Batch Season 3, Episode 12 is by no means a bad episode of television, but it ultimately feels inconsequential. It seems like the only reason Crosshair missed the tracking dart in the previous episode was so the crew could bump into Rampart again. Nonetheless, Clone Force 99 is back on track with their only solid lead for locating Omega.
