The Galactus Popcorn Bucket Gets a Screen-Accurate Makeover
The repainted and head of the Galactus popcorn bucket from The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Steven Richter

After years of waiting, Marvel fans finally got a proper version of Galactus, Devourer of Worlds, on the big screen in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Actor Ralph Ineson brought the towering cosmic being to life in the way we’d always hoped. With Galactus’ arrival in the MCU, we also got the obligatory popcorn bucket. And it was truly a work of art. For those who could afford to plop down $80 for it, that is. But as cool as it is, there’s always room for improvement. YouTuber Steven Richter decided to give the Galactus popcorn bucket a once-over, making it look less shiny and, well, less plastic-looking, making it look screen accurate. You can see the amazing Galactus popcorn bucket transformation in the video below:

One of the first things Richter did to improve the popcorn bucket was to use clay to make the head look like Ineson’s actual face in the film. The actor has a very distinct nose and mouth, and the popcorn bucket looks like a generic mannequin head. So the face needed a total resculpt. After that, the shiny metallic sheen needed removal, which he accomplished with a lot of intense scrubbing. Black materials came in handy for the mechanical parts of the helmet to appear more aged. More LED lights were added, and finally, he got spray-painted for a more screen-accurate shade of purple.

This wasn’t the only Fantastic Four project from Steven Richter this year. He also created busts of each of the heads of the F.F. However, he used materials reflecting the powers of each team member. So Reed Richards is made from rubber bands, Johnny Storm is constructed from matches, the Thing is (naturally) rocks, and Invisible Woman is clear material. Both the F.F. and Galactus videos showcase some pretty fantastic work, if we may say so. And they all do proper justice to some of Jack Kirby’s greatest creations.
