THE ODYSSEY Film Adds SONS OF ANARCHY and WALKING DEAD Alum Ryan Hurst to Cast

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey film is continuing to expand its cast with some excellent actors. The latest to join the roster is Ryan Hurst, whom most people know from Sons of Anarchy. In that show, he played the ill-fated Opie, a member of SAMCRO and Jax Teller’s best friend who met a grisly death in season five. He went on to play antagonist Beta during The Walking Dead’s Whisperer arc in seasons nine and ten.

Like the other castings for The Odyssey movie, we don’t know who Ryan Hurst will play at this time but we will certainly think about this further. He’s such a large and looming figure that he will certainly command the screen with his presence. Honestly, I’d rather think about anything else than Opie’s sad demise. I am still not over it. But I digress.

The Odyssey is already in production and the cast includes Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Mia Goth, Elliot Page, Ryan Hurst’s  Walking Dead co-star Samantha Morton, Benny Safdie, and Cosmo Jarvis. There’s also Lupita Nyong’o, Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron, and Jon Bernthal, who died long before Alpha and Beta came into play in The Walking Dead.

What Is the Release Date for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey Film?

Universal Pictures describes the film as a “mythic action epic shot across the world” that will bring Homer’s infamous saga to IMAX. The Odyssey will hit theaters on July 17, 2026.
